Premium ice cream has always been my favorite snack. It was in 2010 that I learned that consuming dairy products was causing me health problems. Unwilling to give up my favorite snack, I decided to try some ice cream alternatives. I was very disappointed in both taste and ingredients, and decided to embark on the task of making a great tasting, premium quality, healthy non-dairy dessert.

 

First Steps

 

And so began my quest to create a dairy-free product that would satisfy my ice cream cravings. I also wanted to make something that my family would enjoy.

One thing I have learned over the years is that in order to make a great tasting product, you need quality ingredients. I decided that I would use the finest ingredients I could get my hands on. I also challenged myself to create a healthy, allergy-friendly, low-glycemic product. Hey, if I was going to do this, I was going to do it right!

 

Stumbling Along

 

Where to start? There was no model to follow. Needless to say (but I’m saying it anyway), I had some very interesting, unique flavors and textures along the way, including some barely palatable creations and others that didn’t even resemble ice cream.

Each time I thought I finally had it all figured out and started getting excited, my family said it wasn’t quite right.

 

Finding My Footing

 

But I was determined to stick with it. I made the decision to write down everything so that I would be able to begin each new trial where I had left off the time before. Looking back, this single decision was the difference between success and dismal failure.

Although I was frustrated many times throughout this period, I refused to give up. I kept trying new things, and my product eventually got better and better.

 

On Level Ground

 

Success!! I had three flavors of family-approved vegan hemp ice cream — chocolate mint, cinnamon, and vanilla bean. Whenever I wanted ice cream, I was turning to my own creations. I watched in amazement and delight as my husband Rob, a hardcore ice cream lover, chose my dairy-free hemp ice cream over his usual brand.

I decided to share my vegan ice cream with friends and neighbors and received positive reviews. One thing led to another, and Robin’s Frozen Fantasy became a reality!
